Lodgify Website Not Getting Bookings? How to Fix It
Check four things in order: can guests find the site, do they trust it, can they book easily, and is anyone sending them there.
Last verified on 13 Oct 2026 against official docs.
If your Lodgify website isn't getting bookings, the cause is almost always one of four things: guests can't find the site, they don't trust it, they find it hard to book, or nobody is sending them there. Check them in that order. First confirm your custom domain, Google Search Console, sitemap and Google Vacation Rentals connection. Next look at your photos, reviews and policies. Then test the booking flow and compare your prices on a phone. Finally, set up the channels that bring people to the site, such as repeat-guest email. Each step below is based on Lodgify's own help center.
Independent publication. Direct Booking Academy is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or an official resource of Lodgify. Menu paths come from Lodgify's help center as of the access dates listed under Sources (October 2026), and Lodgify can change its interface.
This guide is part of our Lodgify Academy, an independent collection of guides (not an official Lodgify resource).
Before you start: get a baseline
You can't fix the right step until you know where visitors drop off. Lodgify has a Google Analytics integration: go to Tools → Marketplace → Google Analytics, turn on the toggle for your website, paste your GA4 Measurement ID (G-XXXXXXXXXX), then save and publish (Lodgify blog: Google Analytics setup; Lodgify Help: Retrieve data from your website).
Lodgify doesn't document its own booking-funnel report. For checkout tracking, its help center points to GA4 eCommerce tracking (a "Purchase" event), code on the confirmation page, and Google Tag Manager (same help article).
How to read the numbers:
- Very few sessions → start with Step 1 (findability) and Step 4 (promotion).
- Plenty of sessions but few bookings → Steps 2 and 3 (trust and conversion).
Step 1: Can guests find your site?
Use a custom domain
Lodgify creates a default domain from your username. On yearly or bi-yearly plans you can register a personalized domain free: Website builder → Settings tab → Domain → Get a free domain. Enter the name, click Register, then use ⋯ → Set as main domain. Registration can take up to 48 hours, and you can't change the name afterwards, so check the spelling (Lodgify Help: Register a new domain).
Verify the site in Google Search Console
Lodgify's steps (Lodgify Help: Search Console):
- In Search Console, add a URL prefix property for your domain.
- Under Other verification methods, choose HTML tag and copy the meta tag.
- In Lodgify, go to Website builder → Settings → Advanced and paste the tag into Header-Custom HTML.
- Save, publish your website, then click Verify in Search Console.
If you bought your domain through Lodgify, you must use the HTML tag method, not the TXT record (same source). Since 2025, Lodgify redirects www to the non-www version of your domain, so use the non-www address in Search Console (Lodgify product updates, May 2025). For background on the verification methods, see Google's guide.
Submit your sitemap
In Search Console, open Sitemaps and enter sitemap.xml next to your domain (that is, yourdomain.com/sitemap.xml). Lodgify also resubmits your sitemap automatically every 24 hours (Lodgify Help: Submit your sitemap).
Write unique page titles and descriptions
Go to Website builder → Pages tab, hover over a page, then click ⋯ → Page settings → SEO. Fill in the SEO page title and SEO page description and save. Lodgify shows a preview of how the page will look in Google. If your site is in more than one language, add metadata for each one (Lodgify Help: SEO).
Connect Google Vacation Rentals
Google Vacation Rentals (GVR) can show your rentals in Google Search, Maps and Travel, and clicks go to your Lodgify site (Lodgify: GVR). Lodgify's requirements (Lodgify Help: Connect to GVR):
- Each rental has a name and a description, at least one bed, and at least 8 captioned photos of 720×720 px or more. Lodgify specifies a 4:3 aspect ratio.
- The rental isn't registered as a hotel on Google, and its type is one Google accepts (for example house, apartment, villa or chalet).
- Your website has a logo and is published.
- Maximum occupancy of 15 guests (Lodgify: GVR).
To connect, go to Channel Manager → Google card → List. Google completes the connection, and Lodgify says this "can take a few days or weeks" (help article).
Plan check (as of Oct 2026): GVR is available on the Professional and Ultimate plans only. On Lodgify's pricing page (USD, one property, yearly billing), Professional is listed at $47/month and Ultimate at $68/month. Prices vary by property count and currency, so check the pricing page yourself. If you're on Basic or Starter, that alone limits your visibility on Google.
Step 2: Do guests trust what they see?
The official docs don't cover this step in depth, so here is our editorial checklist:
- Photos. Is the first image your strongest one, and is it sharp on a phone? Lodgify uses each rental photo's caption as its alt and title text. You can edit captions in Rentals → [rental] → Photos (Lodgify Help: SEO). Write captions that describe the room. See the Lodgify photo guide.
- Reviews. Can guests see evidence of past stays? Lodgify has a Customer Reviews feature.
- Policies. Can guests find cancellation terms, house rules, deposits and fees before checkout?
- Contact details. Fill in the Contact & Social tab under Website builder → Settings.
- Secure payment. Lodgify says payments go through PCI-compliant providers and that the platform uses SSL (Lodgify FAQs). Make sure your site loads on
https://without browser warnings.
Direct Booking Academy's publisher also operates BNB Boost.
If your photos are the weak point, BNB Boost works on vacation rental photo presentation. For layout ideas, see our Lodgify website examples.
Step 3: Can guests book easily?
Compare your direct price with the OTAs
Many guests check your Airbnb or Vrbo listing before they book direct. To compare, pick the same dates and guest count, then record the full total including fees on your site and on each OTA, with dated screenshots. If the direct price isn't clearly better, or at least equal with a reason to book direct, guests have little reason to switch. Direct Booking Academy hasn't run this comparison on any specific listing, so we don't publish results here.
Test the booking flow on your phone
Lodgify says its templates are responsive (Lodgify FAQs), but that doesn't guarantee a smooth booking. On your own phone, check:
- Can you see the booking button or date picker without scrolling?
- Can you choose dates and guests with one thumb?
- Is the full price, with fees, shown before payment?
- How many screens are there between choosing dates and confirming?
- Do error messages, such as a minimum-stay warning, explain what to do?
Offer familiar payment options
Lodgify's card gateways are Lodgify Payments, Stripe, Braintree, Authorize.Net and Payyo (on request), plus PayPal. Manual payment methods are limited to the Professional and Ultimate plans (Lodgify Help: Forms of payment). Lodgify's FAQ lists Visa, Mastercard, Amex, Apple Pay and Google Pay among the accepted methods (Lodgify FAQs).
Step 4: Is anyone sending guests to your site?
Most early direct bookings come from people who already know you. Check whether you're:
- Inviting past guests back with a direct link, where platform terms and privacy law allow.
- Publishing local content. Lodgify doesn't document a native blog engine, but its help center explains how to add a blog page. It also suggests link building with local businesses and adding social profiles (Lodgify Help: SEO).
- Running offers. Lodgify mentions promotions, upsells and add-ons (Lodgify website builder).
